Have you ever tried to create a morning routine with little to no success? Yeah, me too. That’s why I decided to join Make Over Your Mornings.
Make Over Your Mornings is a 14-day course that combines videos, reading, and activities to help you create a morning routine that will set you off on the right foot each day.
The course was created to only take about fifteen minutes each day, so you can curl up in your favorite chair with a cup of coffee and go through the course in the quiet of the morning.

I went through the course recently (and am now going through it again), and I loved it! So I wanted share some of what I learned, what I loved about the course, and what I didn’t love so much.
Lessons and Takeaways
I first signed up for Make Over Your Mornings because I had tried for months to establish a morning routine, without much success.
When someone mentioned it on a Facebook group I’m a part of, I looked it over and thought, “I’m gonna give this a shot”, and I’m glad I did.
While some parts of the course were things I already knew, I began to realize that I wasn’t putting everything I knew into action. The course taught me some new things and gave me a system for thinking about my morning routine and changing it to be what I want it to be.
My morning routine still has some work to be done (which is why I’m going through the course again), but, since taking the course, I have gone to bed earlier, woken up earlier, and began to think differently about parts of my morning that I used to dread.
Here are some of my biggest lessons and takeaways from the course:
My goals were not specific
This is one of those things I already knew but wasn’t actually applying to my life – your goals need to be specific. As I went through the course, I realized that I needed to make my goals concrete instead of the vagueness that they were.
This revelation alone was worth the cost of the course.
I need an accountability partner
When I was trying to create a morning routine before, I didn’t really tell anyone. I’m sure I mentioned it in passing to my husband, but we never actually talked about it.
But since taking this course, I decided to really get my husband on board. He knows now that I need to be asleep by 10 because I’m going to wake up at 6, and he helps make sure that happens.
I can do this
I love that there’s a whole day of the course dedicated to crushing the mindset of “I can’t do this.” Because I had tried to create a morning routine for so long with little improvement, I started to believe that maybe I just can’t do it.
Maybe I’m just not a morning person or maybe I’ll never be able to wake up early.
But the reality is that I can do it. I can teach my body to go to sleep at a certain time and wake up at a certain time. I can learn to be self-disciplined… and I can change how I think about waking up early.
I’ve learned so much more than just these three things, but these lessons have made a huge difference in how I approach my mornings and in my life in general.
What I Didn’t Love About Make Over Your Mornings
Here a couple things I didn’t love about the course.
Internet access is needed to watch the videos
Okay, I know this isn’t really a problem for 99% of the people reading this… but I live in the middle of nowhere where internet isn’t available (crazy, right?!).
I was able to watch by getting to work early – with my newfound time in the mornings – and using the internet there. You could skip the videos altogether, but I wouldn’t recommend it because they contain different content and helpful tidbits than the workbook.
It won’t magically fix everything
Okay, this is probably pretty obvious, but the course won’t magically fix your mornings. Making over your mornings still requires hard work and effort. It will involve a few mornings where the last thing you want to do is get out of bed, but in the end, it’s all worth it.
What I Did Love About Make Over Your Mornings
It takes things slow… but not too slow
The course doesn’t actually get to setting up a morning routine until day 9, but that’s because it’s taking the time to set you up for success.
If you decided right now you were going to wake up early and start a super awesome new morning routine tomorrow, would you actually do it? Chances are, the answer is “no”. It’s why you need this course in the first place.
Instead of jumping all in right away, the first day is about setting a time to wake up and slowly working your way to that time. Then, the second day of the course is about establishing an evening routine. After that, you’ll have seven days of working to nail down those important steps before establishing your morning routine.
It’s a recipe for success.
It has actionable steps for each day
Once you’ve gone through the video and the workbook each day, the course gives you a few actionable steps to take. They are easy steps and will only take a few minutes, but they will encourage you to actually do something, not just fill yourself with useless knowledge. And two or three little steps every day for fourteen days adds up.
It teaches you how to set goals and work them into your morning routine
Mornings are the perfect time to work on your big goals. If you don’t have any goals yet, this course will walk you through how to create them. And if you already have goals, it will teach you how to create time in your morning to work on those goals.
Who Is Make Over Your Mornings For?
At first glance, it may seem like this course is only for moms. The creator, Crystal, is a mom, and I couldn’t quite tell from the promos if the course would really apply to me, too. Well, now that I’ve gone through the course, I can say with confidence that it’s definitely not just for moms.
While she does mention kids and how to work them into your routine if you have them, the entire course is very applicable for non-moms, as well. (Ever been called a “non-mom” before? Didn’t think so.)
This course is ideal if you:
- Have tried to start a morning routine before without much success.
- Struggle with getting up in the morning, but want to wake up refreshed and ready to start your day.
- Have goals, or want to create goals, that you need more time to work on.
- Often feel behind or stressed the moment you wake up.
- Want to accomplish more with your days, but can’t quite find the time to do so.
- Have a love-hate relationship with your snooze button.
One Last Note
Because there are so many little nuggets of wisdom, I’m going through the course again this month and would love for you to join me. Let’s create the mornings we long for together! (Okay, that sounded cheesy, but you know what I mean.)
