January was an exciting month for the blog and I can’t wait to share it all below in my January 2019 income report!
I had a huge boost in traffic and it was my highest income month yet! Read on for more details about how I made money blogging in January.

January 2019 Goals
Write 6 blog posts
Fail: 3 posts
I was on a roll for a minute and published two posts outside of my goals and income reports, but then I got a little behind and ended up publishing my goals report in February, instead of at the end of the month.
Create a funnel for my Pinterest services
I was able to create a Pinterest opt-in incentive to draw in people that I know are interested in growing their Pinterest accounts.
However, I failed to set up an actual funnel that would take people from getting my freebie to signing on as clients. So, progress was made, but I’m not entirely there.
I will say, though, that I had multiple people reach out to me this month wanting to know about my services, so I feel like I’m doing something right.
Create an opt-in incentive for my most popular post
Opt-in incentives take a lot of time to create and are definitely my downfall when it comes to blogging. I’ve only successfully created one so far and it doesn’t seem to be converting that well; although, in all fairness, I haven’t advertised it much.
Next month, I’m going to be focusing entirely on getting new email subscribers.
My Business Goal for February 2019
Get 50 new email subscribers
It’s been a while since I set a really big and crazy goal, so I wanted to go all out this month.
This month, I will neglect all other blog duties for the sake of growing my email list. There are a ton of other things I need to do for the blog, but I believe that this is the most important, so I’m making it a priority.
Here’s the plan:
- Create an AMAZING opt-in freebie with high value that people will really want
- Set up an email sequence for the freebie
- Create a lead page for the freebie
- Create 10 pins for the lead page
- Write a relevant blog post
- Create 5 pins for the relevant post
- Add freebie opt-in to all relevant blog posts
- Share freebie in Facebook groups
I have no idea what to expect for opt-in rates, but I’ve heard that freebie lead pages tend to have better opt-in rates. I’m hoping that the lead page will convert at around 20% and the blog posts will convert at 2%, with 200 lead page viewers and 500 blog post viewers.
I actually would make these numbers higher, but I’m estimating that I won’t have everything set up until about mid-month.
Pageviews: 13,899 (up from 7,984)
Email Subscribers: 51 (up from 39)
Pinterest Followers: 802 (up from 551)
Facebook Page Likes: 11 (up from 6)
Look at those pageviews! Traffic started going up at the end of December and then skyrocketed at the beginning of January. It’s now averaging about 400 pageviews a day, which is incredible!
My traffic basically doubled this month and it’s looking like it’s going to stay fairly consistent.
I’m also now getting over 1 million viewers on Pinterest! It’s a vanity metric, but one that I’m proud of.
Here’s a look at my blog traffic for the month:
January 2019 Income
Along with more traffic, came more income, and January ended up being my highest earning month to date!
I was actually somewhat surprised by the amount of affiliate purchases made this month. But I guess it makes since due to many of my posts being related to personal development and goal setting, both of which tend to be popular topics in January.
I also made my first affiliate revenue through ShareASale. Only 50 cents, but, hey, it’s something!
January 2019 Expenses
Again, Tailwind was my only expense this month. Tailwind saves me a ton of time by allowing me to schedule pins ahead of time and the return on investment is huge, which is why it’s the only thing I’m currently paying for in my business.
At the end of the month, I came $2.13 short of making back everything I’ve spent on the blog so far. My hope is that I’ll make at least $17.12 in February and officially break even.
I also know that my next hosting payment is due in March and will likely be higher than last year’s, so I really need to get my income up to make this a sustainable business.
One Last Note
January really was an incredible month traffic-wise and I loved seeing my income go back up! Hopefully, it will continue to grow over the next couple months.
I hope you found my January 2019 income report helpful and inspiring! Blogging really is a slow game, but it’s also extremely fun and so very worth it.
